Canyon State Electric Raises over $15,000 for Heart Research

Phoenix, AZ, March 26—Electrical contractor Canyon State Electric (CSE) raised over $15,000 and had nearly forty walkers participate in the American Heart Association’s (AHA) 2024 Phoenix Heart Walk. This was CSE’s third year engaging in the walk, and the company has donated over $55,000 to the nonprofit to date.

The company’s dedication to the AHA began in 2021 when Steven Maderazzo, Canyon State Electric’s founder, passed away unexpectedly from an aortic dissection.

“It was a shock to everyone,” said Stephanie Maderazzo-Hughes, Steven Maderazzo’s daughter and Canyon State Electric’s CEO. “He is dearly missed by his coworkers, friends, and family. Our participation in the Phoenix Heart Walk allows us to honor his memory and positively impact the Phoenix community.”

The proceeds from the Phoenix Heart Walk, which total over $1.4M this year, will fund lifesaving research, advocate for healthier communities, improve patient care, and work for equitable health for all people.

Vince DiGuglielmo, Canyon State Electric’s marketing and communications manager, served on the 2024 Phoenix Heart Walk Executive Leadership Team: “The American Heart Association’s mission mirrors our values as a company: to better the lives of those around us. The Heart Walk is one of the many ways Canyon State Electric acts on that commitment.”

CSE’s 2024 Phoenix Heart Walk campaign was supported by several local corporate partners, including gold sponsor Clayco, and bronze sponsors American Business Branding, Arcoro, CBIZ, Danson Construction, Elevato Digital, Next Level Growth, and OM3 Yoga.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support of our industry partners and their willingness to join us in strengthening the health of our community,” said DiGuglielmo.

Canyon State Electric and the American Heart Association present the Steven Maderazzo Lifestyle Change Award yearly at the AHA’s Phoenix at Heart Executive Breakfast in the fall to honor construction employees who have made significant lifestyle changes to benefit their health. Nominations for the award will open this summer.
