Meet Your Instructors

Learn from CSE's instructors who each boast decades of experience working as electricians and teaching the next generation.  

Sidney Hawkins, Director of Safety & Training 

Sidney leads and oversees the education, certification, and safety standards for all electricians at Canyon State Electric.

With over thirty years in the industry, he has taught and certified hundreds of electricians in OSHA-30, MEWP, CPR, NFPA 70E, Fall Protection, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), and NCCER.

In addition to his role at CSE, he also leads the 4x5 Suicide Prevention Program as Program Director, spreading mental health awareness in the construction industry.  

Ted Rose, Lead Instructor

Ted provides hands-on education to all electrical apprentices at Canyon State Electric.

After working in the field as an electrician, he spent over 30 years as an electrical engineer with companies such as Intel, Electro-Test, and Cornelius Consulting Group. He also led his own engineering consulting firm, Rose, Sing & Associates.

Now, Ted has dedicated himself to passing on theoretical and practical knowledge to the next generation of electricians at Canyon State Electric.

Pre-Apprenticeship Program 

If you’re still in high school (not graduating in the upcoming spring semester), you can get a jump-start on your electrical career. CSE’s pre-apprenticeship program prepares you for the working world by teaching you practical skills that will allow you to earn more, faster.  

Get training on conduit bending, wire-pulling, device pre-fabrication, and installation during our 8-week summer program. It’s the best way to get ahead of your peers and become a journeyman even faster.
